How to convert hard disk drive partitions from GPT to MBR?

Here's a detailed step-by-step guide on how to convert hard disk drive partitions from GPT to MBR:

Before you begin:

  1. Make sure you have a backup of all your important data.
  2. Make sure you have a Windows installation media such as a DVD or USB drive.

Step 1: Boot from Windows installation media

  1. Insert the Windows installation media into your computer's DVD drive or USB port.
  2. Restart your computer and boot from the Windows installation media.
  3. Press any key when prompted to start the installation process.

Step 2: Open Command Prompt

  1. On the "Install Windows" screen, select your language and other preferences.
  2. Click "Next."
  3. Click "Install now."
  4. Accept the license terms and click "Next."
  5. On the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen, select "Custom: Install Windows only."
  6. On the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen, click "Drive options (advanced)."
  7. Click the partition that you want to convert from GPT to MBR.
  8. Click "Delete" to delete the partition.
  9. Click "OK" to confirm the deletion.
  10. Repeat steps 7-9 for all other partitions on the disk.
  11. Click "New" to create a new partition.
  12. Specify the partition size and click "Apply."
  13. Wait for Windows to create the partition and click "Next" to continue the installation.

  3. Identify the disk that you want to convert from GPT to MBR.
  4. Type "select disk <disk number>" and press "Enter."
  5. Type "clean" and press "Enter" to erase all data on the disk.
  6. Type "convert mbr" and press "Enter" to convert the disk from GPT to MBR format.
  7. Type "exit" and press "Enter" to close the diskpart utility.
  8. Type "exit" and press "Enter" to close the Command Prompt window.
  9. Restart your computer.

Step 5: Reinstall Windows

  1. Boot from the Windows installation media again.
  2. Follow the prompts to install Windows on the newly converted MBR disk.
  3. When prompted, select the newly created partition for the installation.
  4. Wait for Windows to install and configure itself.
  5. Install any necessary device drivers and software for your hardware.
  6. Restore your backed-up data to your newly installed Windows operating system.

That's it! You've successfully converted your hard disk drive partitions from GPT to MBR format.
