How to Disable Delivery Optimization in windows operating system?

Delivery Optimization is a feature in Windows 10 that allows your computer to share updates and other files with other computers on your network or the Internet. While this can be helpful in reducing bandwidth usage and speeding up downloads, some users may want to disable this feature for privacy or security reasons. Here's how to disable Delivery Optimization in Windows 10:


Method 1: Using Settings

  1. Click on the Start menu and select "Settings" (gear icon).
  2. Click on "Update & Security" and then click on "Delivery Optimization."
  3. Under "Delivery Optimization," toggle off the "Allow downloads from other PCs" option.


Method 2: Using Group Policy Editor

Note: Group Policy Editor is only available in Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions.

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
  3. Navigate to "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Components" > "Delivery Optimization."
  4. Double-click on the "Allow downloads from other PCs" policy.
  5. Select the "Disabled" option and click "OK."


Method 3: Using Registry Editor

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeliveryOptimization."
  4. Right-click on an empty space in the right pane and select "New" > "DWORD (32-bit) Value."
  5. Name the new value "DODownloadMode" and set its value to "0."
  6. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.


Once you've disabled Delivery Optimization, your computer will no longer share updates and other files with other computers on your network or the Internet. However, this may result in slower downloads and higher bandwidth usage, so consider enabling this feature again if you experience these issues.
